"THE REQUEST"
The Background Story for this
fund-raiser
Pennies for Peru is a project born out of a request to help a friend in need.
On my last trip to Peru to visit my Sisters and Brothers in Christ I was approached with a request, a need for my Pastor friend there.
His request. . . a projector.
Ruben Ccari Lampa, an Pastor friend located in the Andahulayas in Peru is needing a projector to help forward the gospel message, so that with the use of technology those who haven't seen the words of Christ, or those familiar pictures of Jesus we all have seen over and over can have that opportunity.
Now it would be easy to put the request aside and say, "It's too much money", "It's not realistic," "Or maybe they will forget they asked me about it so I wouldn't have to approach others for help with this need"
All of those questions arose in my mind.
But the Holy Spirit didn't let me put that request aside. Now, I am only two and half months away from my next trip to Peru and the request is weighing on my mind and heart.
I have been impressed lately at the importance of helping others, those in need. No request is too small and no request is too big.
How big is my God to fulfill this request?
We are all called to serve, we can all help in the most basic way...
So in humility I turn to my Brothers and Sisters here and ask for help by collecting your loose change for the next two months, until January 5th, 2008
An amount of $1,500 is needed for the projector.
Any funds collected above and beyond the $1,500 will be donated to the local Adventist churches and those families who we have met that are in need. Thank you for helping to advance the gospel message in Peru.
