Large foam block, (Trymer 2000XP) Great for carving, sanding, and painting. This will be out wood axles, dash, seats and more.
The foam logs carved out. These had to be carved in two sections tdue to the small chunk of foam to work with. They will be pieced together with APOXIE in the end.
Foam log with texture lines added.
These are the pieced together foam logs. I used my all time favorite sculpting product, Apoxie. Works like clay, when mixed together, hardens to concrete within hours. Can be sanded later.
More log photos. The foam is messy to deal with, but it sure sculpts nicely, and is light weight for the finished product.
The anti-freeze containers transform into concrete wheels for my car. I used foam and Apoxie on the top to give texture. The rest is just paint. 2x4's for the foam logs to rest on.
The car base with logs added to concrete wheels. The backseat has been formed out of foam as well. A wooden seat was constructed too.
I constructed a canopy out of dowels with apoxie, burlap and twine. The canopy rests in the 2x4's.
Front view of the car in its finished stage. It still needs to be placed on the float.
This is the car placed on the trailer for the float. The backdrop is a painting of a tree farm that would be in Bedrock. Nothing is in place (hence the spaces and lack of decorations)

BLOG
Every November there is a Christmas Parade in Midland. They have a new theme each year. This year's theme is "JINGLE BELL ROCK".
I took the "rock" and changed it into "BEDROCK" for the Flintstones. I thought that this would jazz things up and make a unique float for the people watching the parade.
Supplies Used in the Construction:
• Large Anit-Freeze Drums
• Foam Block
• Wood & 2x4's
• Apoxie
• Acrylic Paints, Spray Paint
• Dowels
• Twine
• Burlap
• Various Tools
Interesting Note:
I never attend the parade. I only work on the float's main theme and concept. I enjoy making people happy.
The steering wheel is also constructed of foam and then textured and painted to look like a slice of a log.
